HTET: exam pattern and preparation strategy
The Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) is conducted by the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH). A valid HTET certificate is mandatory for appointment as a teacher in government schools of Haryana. Level 1 (PRT) qualifies for Primary classes 1–5, Level 2 (TGT) for classes 6–8, and Level 3 (PGT) for classes 9–12. This section covers Level 1 (Primary).

Selection process
- Qualify HTET with minimum 60% marks (55% for reserved categories) to receive the eligibility certificate.
- Use the HTET certificate to apply for government school teacher recruitment notifications (HiRE, direct recruitment by DSSSB, etc.).
- Final selection depends on a merit list / written test / interview as per the specific recruitment.
Marking scheme
Each correct answer awards 1 mark. There is NO negative marking. Attempt all 150 questions - a blank answer is zero, so any guess is better than nothing.

- Child Development & Pedagogy (CDP) is the most theory-heavy section - focus on Piaget, Vygotsky, Kohlberg, behaviourist theories, and RTE Act 2009 provisions.
- Language pedagogy questions (How should a teacher teach reading? How to handle language errors?) appear in CDP as well as in both Hindi and English sections - prepare all three together as the concepts overlap heavily.
- For Mathematics and EVS, the NCERT content questions (facts, concepts) are fewer; the pedagogy questions (how to teach the concept) are the majority - study both but lean towards pedagogy.
- Take full 150-question mocks under 150-minute timing. With 1 minute per question, accuracy AND speed both matter.
